Policy Analysis
The MCH Policy Research Center provides health decision-makers and
program officials with timely analyses of federal and state program
and policy developments. By analyzing legislative policies and relevant
research, obtaining the perspectives of key informants in Washington
as well as state officials, families, and providers, and bringing
our own insights to bear, we issue reports assessing changes, impacts,
and opportunities in Medicaid, SCHIP, and other public programs,
such as WIC, early intervention, Title V, and children’s mental
health services.

Strategic Guidance
As recognized experts in the maternal and child health field, the
Center’s senior staff provides strategic consulting services
to public agencies and national organizations. We assist federal
agencies by leading strategic planning meetings, work with state
agencies in the design of direct service and programs, and help
provider organizations in anticipating, understanding, and responding
to health care policy changes.

The Center has earned an excellent reputation for high quality,
objective research on the implementation and effectiveness of various
financing and service delivery programs and policies affecting children
and adolescents. Our research involves original data collection
through telephone surveys and site visits. We produce major studies examining Medicaid
managed care, SCHIP implementation, the adolescent service delivery
system, the early intervention program, and other topics.
