This page contains current information on the supply and distribution of 30 pediatric subspecialties. The state fact sheets document the supply of board-certified subspecialists in each state. The subspecialty fact sheets provide trend information on the number of board certified subspecialists, the proportion in direct patient care, the number in training, and the proportion of trainees who are international medical graduates (IMGs). Information for the state and subspecialty fact sheets comes from the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Medical Specialties, and the American Medical Association. Because geographic maldistribution of pediatric subspecialists is a major problem, we created maps for each subspecialty showing the ratio of pediatric subspecialists to the child population in each state. Information for these maps comes from the American Board of Medical Specialties and the Census Bureau.
